Off The Road Again
Welp I'm back finally, things have slowed down just enough for me to wonder what I should really be doing instead of this post. The past two weeks have been a whirl wind, I honestly haven't been able to keep up with the time, the date, or if I'm supposed to be asleep or awake. I can say, that I'm ready to have a weekend where I'm not interrupted with work, or not having to plan for a trip to where ever they need me to be on Monday. You may have made out from that last sentence that I've been back in town less than a week and they already have another road trip set up for me.
This will be the sister trip to the 13 hour whirl wind trip to Houma La. that I made the Monday before the Wed. that we left out for Dallas which started off pretty nice a nice evening dinner in Dallas. Flying out the next morning at 7:50am. Landing in Philly about 3.5 hours later. A decent evening dinner, sleep, site seeing for two days. Oh and one of my favorites we got to eat at Geno's and I swear it gets better every time. The site's where awesome too, The Mutter Museum, The Franklin Institute *Real Pirates Special Feature*, Eastern State Penitentiary. Not to mention all the driving around and just enjoying a different but the same culture. The people even in South Philly where enjoyable, not whats expected at all really.
Next thing we know our worst nightmare is coming true, the disaster is being declared for work back home and I'm whisked away for a 50 hour train ride to hell. I swear I've done some of this stuff 5 or 6 times and the time it's the most important is when it all goes to hell in a hand basket. No sleep, can't eat, conference calls that make you chew your nails, and a 6 hour phone call to Microsoft trying to fix things that don't appear to be broken but still don't work right. Then out of the blue, my nightmare ends with a report that the building back home has power and is in the process of being brought back into working order. One hour later they cut me off like step child in the will, and everything I've worked so hard for is for naught, and our plane ride is scheduled for 8:30am the day after we get some rest.
Once we are back in Texas things seem to start settling down. People actually put some good thought in to a DR Plan *how novel* and people seem to be genuinely serious about it. I'm almost to the point of being back where I was when I left working on my major projects, enjoying my Harley, and my new TV. The first chance we got we hooked up with Sleuth, unfortunately his wife had to run to work but I managed to tare through a few beers and some burgers while enjoying my life again.
*note - when you don't stop working for more than 2 days, you don't get to shower or change cloths....use nose plugs.
